PROJECTS

This summer, we have a variety of exciting and hands-on projects where volunteers can help make a difference. Whether you’re skilled in construction, gardening, or content creation, we have a role that will suit your talents and interests. Here are the major projects for the upcoming months and the specific roles we are looking for.

Greenhouse Construction

Help us bring our greenhouse project to life! We’re looking for volunteers to assist in building and completing the greenhouse, which will be essential for extending our growing season. Whether you have experience in construction or are just eager to learn, this is a great opportunity to gain hands-on building skills.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assisting with frame assembly and glazing.
  • Installing shelves and planters for the greenhouse interior.
  • Ensuring structural integrity and final finishes.
Volunteer Room Expansion

We want to improve the living conditions for future volunteers. Help us create comfortable and functional sleeping arrangements by adding more bunk beds, installing shelving, and providing privacy options in the communal spaces.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Building and installing new bunk beds.
  • Adding shelving units and storage solutions.
  • Ensuring privacy through curtains or dividers.
Wood Storage

A warm home in winter starts with proper firewood storage. Help us complete our woodshed and make sure it’s stocked for the colder months. This project is ideal for those who enjoy physical outdoor work.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Finishing construction of the woodshed.
  • Cutting, stacking, and organizing firewood.
  • Maintaining tools used for chopping wood.
Tiny House Completion

We are working to finalize a tiny house project that will serve as additional accommodation for guests and volunteers. If you’re handy with tools and enjoy construction, this project will focus on putting the finishing touches on this cozy living space.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Interior and exterior finishing touches (painting, insulation, etc.).
  • Installing furniture and fixtures.
  • Ensuring the house is ready for use.
Garden Development

Help us expand and maintain our garden, planting new crops and preparing for future harvests. Whether you have a green thumb or want to develop gardening skills, this project is a fantastic way to work closely with nature.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Planting, weeding, and watering various crops.
  • Maintaining garden beds and preparing for future harvests.
  • Developing new areas of the garden to maximize production.
Repair Bisycles and Cars

Our fleet of bicycles and our trusty Citroën Jumpy van need some attention. If you’re mechanically inclined, we’d love your help in fixing up our bikes and resolving an electrical issue with the van.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Repairing and maintaining bicycles to keep them in good working order.
  • Troubleshooting and fixing the electrical problem in our Citroën Jumpy van.
  • Conducting general mechanical maintenance on other vehicles or tools.
Build Outdoor Communal Spaces

We envision outdoor spaces where volunteers and guests can gather, relax, and enjoy time together. Help us create seating areas, build bonfire pits, and set up communal zones where people can connect with nature and each other.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Designing and building seating areas or benches.
  • Constructing fire pits and outdoor gathering spaces.
  • Using natural materials to blend these spaces into the environment.

Website and Content Creation

If you’re creative and tech-savvy, help us document and share our journey. We are looking for photographers, videographers, and writers to capture our projects and maintain our online presence.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Updating and maintaining our website.
  • Writing blog posts and articles.
  • Capturing and editing photos and videos of daily life and projects for marketing purposes.

Mechanic

  • We need a Mechanic to repair our bikes and troubleshoot the electrical issue in our Citroën Jumpy van. If you have experience with vehicle or bicycle repairs, this role is for you.

    Responsibilities:

    Repairing and maintaining bicycles. Fixing mechanical and electrical issues in the Citroën Jumpy. Ensuring all vehicles and tools are in good working condition.

Photographer & Videographer

If you love capturing moments and have a passion for visual storytelling, this role is for you! Whether you’re self-taught or a pro, you’ll help document the heart of our projects throughout the summer. Your work will be featured on our website and social media. No professional experience is needed—just bring your creativity and love for capturing life as it happens!

Responsibilities:
Documenting daily life and ongoing projects through photography and videography. Editing and organizing photos and videos for online platforms. Collaborating with the website and content team to create engaging stories.

Carpenter

Our Carpenter will be involved in a variety of building projects, including the greenhouse, tiny house, and bunk beds for volunteers. If you enjoy hands-on construction work and have basic carpentry skills, you’ll thrive in this role.

Responsibilities:
Assisting in building and construction projects around the farm. Working with wood to build furniture, storage units, and structural elements. Collaborating with the team to ensure projects are completed on time.

Electrician

Are you experienced with electrical work and love working on off-grid projects? As our Electrician, you’ll help complete the wiring for our tiny house, setting up outlets, lighting, and possibly connecting solar panels.

Responsibilities:
you’ll be responsible for wiring, installing outlets, lights, and possibly integrating solar panels to enable off-grid living. This role requires hands-on experience in electrical work, with a focus on efficient, safe installations for sustainable energy solutions.

Chef

Love cooking for a big crowd? As our Chef, you’ll plan and prepare meals for the team using fresh, local, and dumpster-dived ingredients. It’s a great role for someone who enjoys the challenge of feeding a group while keeping things fun and sustainable!

Responsibilities:

Planning and preparing daily meals for volunteers. Managing the kitchen, including food inventory and ordering supplies. Ensuring meals cater to dietary preferences and restrictions.

Forester

Do you enjoy hands-on work in nature? As our Forester, you’ll help maintain our forest by cutting down trees, chopping wood, and tending to the land. A chainsaw license is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities:

You’ll play a key role in maintaining the health of our forest by cutting down select trees, chopping wood, and caring for the land. A chainsaw license is a plus, but not essential—just bring your love for hands-on work in nature!

Gardener

As a Gardener, you’ll help plant, maintain, and harvest the crops that sustain our . This role is ideal for someone with a passion for growing food and working closely with the earth.

Responsibilities:

Planting and maintaining crops in the garden. Ensuring the garden is weeded, watered, and properly cared for. Harvesting crops and preparing the garden for future seasons.

Other

Have a unique talent or skill that doesn’t quite fit into the roles? We’d love to hear about it! Whether you’re an organizing genius, a game night host, a foraging enthusiast, tattoo artist, seamstress or have another special skill to offer, you can create your own role.

ROLES

We’re on the lookout for passionate volunteers to fill a variety of roles this summer, each with its own focus and set of skills. While we’ve outlined specific roles, we’re open to all backgrounds, experiences, and talents. Choose Your Volunteering Period

We invite you to stay with us for at least 2 weeks this season, in a classic workaway exchange. In return for __ hours of work per week on our farm, we will provide accommodation and meals. The tasks will vary depending on the season’s needs—from gardening and building to other hands-on projects around the property.

We’re flexible with how we organize the work schedule, and once you arrive, we’ll sit down together to create a plan that works well for everyone. Whether you prefer longer workdays with more time off or shorter, more regular shifts, we’ll find a rhythm that suits the team and makes your stay enjoyable!

MAY

(28 April - 11 May)

Kick off the season with greenhouse construction and preparing the garden for planting. Tasks will include building, gardening, and some basic carpentry work to set up the foundation for the summer ahead. If you enjoy early-season planting and hands-on building projects, this is the perfect time for you!

JUNE

(26 May - 8 June)

As the garden begins to grow, help us maintain the plants and finish key building projects like the tiny house and volunteer room expansion. You’ll also assist in the kitchen as we prepare meals with fresh produce from the farm. This period offers a mix of gardening, carpentry, and kitchen work for those looking to get their hands dirty!

MIDSUMMER

(23 June - 6 July)

Celebrate the Swedish Midsummer with us while contributing to the ongoing farm projects! This time is filled with planting, garden maintenance, and creating communal spaces. You’ll also be part of our Midsummer celebration—a cultural highlight of the season. Perfect for volunteers who want to balance hard work with festive traditions!

JULY

(14 July - 27 July)

The garden will be in full bloom, and the focus will be on maintaining plants and preparing for future harvests. You’ll also help with creative projects like building outdoor communal spaces and assisting with photography and videography to document farm life. This is a great time for volunteers interested in creative work and garden care.

AUGUST

(11 August - 31 August)

As the season comes to an end, we’ll focus on harvesting, finishing up construction projects, and preparing the farm for the colder months ahead. If you enjoy forest work, harvesting, and some last-minute building, this is an ideal period to get involved. It’s also a time for reflection and wrapping up the season’s efforts.

Our application process is simple:

  1. Fill Out the Application Form – Start by completing our online form, where you’ll share your skills, preferred volunteering period, and a bit about yourself.

  2. Wait for Our Response – Once we receive your application, we’ll review it and get back to you within a few days. If selected, you’ll receive a confirmation email with further details.

  3. Schedule a Call – If your application is accepted, we’ll set up a brief call to get to know you better, answer any questions, and finalize your application.

  4. Prepare for Your Stay – Once confirmed, you’ll receive all the necessary information about your upcoming volunteer experience, including what to bring and how to get here.

How long do I need to stay as a volunteer?

We ask for a minimum stay of 2 weeks, but you’re welcome to stay longer if you wish! The longer you stay, the more you’ll learn and contribute to our seasonal projects.

What does the work schedule look like?

You’ll work around 25 hours per week, and we’re flexible with how we arrange the hours. Once you arrive, we’ll plan a schedule that suits both you and the team, balancing work and free time.

What kind of accommodation is provided?

Accommodation varies depending on availability. We offer single rooms, shared rooms for couples, and space for those with their own tents or vans. All options include access to shared facilities like bathrooms and kitchens.

Will meals be provided?

Yes! We provide three meals a day as part of the work exchange. We aim to use as much fresh produce from the farm as possible. Let us know if you have any dietary restrictions or preferences, and we’ll do our best to accommodate them.

Do I need any specific skills to apply?

Not necessarily. While we appreciate skills in gardening, carpentry, or mechanics, we also welcome volunteers who are eager to learn and contribute with a positive attitude. Just let us know your interests and any relevant experience when you apply.

How do I get to the farm?

We’re located in a rural area, so the best way to reach us is by car or public transportation. We can provide detailed directions, and we may be able to arrange a pickup from nearby train or bus stations.

Can I bring my pet?

Yes, we’re pet-friendly! Just let us know in advance if you plan to bring a pet, so we can make sure it fits into our environment.

What should I pack for my stay?

Bring comfortable clothes for working outdoors, sturdy shoes, and any personal items you’ll need. Depending on the season, weather can vary, so pack for both warm days and cooler evenings. We’ll provide more detailed packing recommendations once your stay is confirmed.

Will I have free time to explore the area?

Absolutely! We encourage you to make the most of your free time. The surrounding area is great for hiking, exploring nature, or simply relaxing on the farm. We can recommend nearby attractions and activities.

How do I apply to volunteer?

Our days were filled with working on the tiny house where I learned a ton just from everybody helping one another. You said it would be far from civilization, but I didn't realize how far it would be. I didnt understand exactly how much mosquito spray you need. It was an actual insane amount of mosquitoes! 😅 don't think I've ever seen anything like it.

We really had a great time last summer, it was perfect to enjoy the Swedish summer! I have really good memories of the fishing, the lake, the building and the food ofcourse. For us the work/building itself was a bit slow paced and unorganized. We would have loved working harder and thus learning more and seeing the tiny house really come together. Chilling at the lake feels even better when you feel tired and accomplished. But I guess that is very different for every person 😊
